Successful programs can help to lower the number of lost work days and accelerate healing times for injured workers. For Memphis Jewish Home (MJH) in Cordova, Tenn., United Heartland’s ability to help them develop and implement a successful return-to-work program was one of the prime reasons they became a United Heartland customer. With previous carriers, the organization received little support from loss control staff in putting a program in place. During the prospect visit, United Heartland showed them that an effective RTW policy could have dropped their experience modification factor by more than a third. Additionally, UH reviewed the impact of specific lost-time claims. During a three-year period, 10 lost-time claims were filed, many of which could have been avoided had the claimants been brought back to work.
Since becoming a UH customer, MJH has yet to have a lost-time injury and is much more adamant about bringing injured workers back to work. For the most current policy period, MJH has only had five claims, two of which were initially indemnity claims, but transitioned into situations where the workers returned for light duty work after consultation with panel doctors. MJH has expressed their gratitude for the high-touch customer service United Heartland has provided, and United Heartland is proud to have a partner so committed to our loss control philosophy.
